THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL CONDITIONS OF THE HOUSE ENVIRONMENT AND NUMBER OF BACTERIAL WITH PNEUMONIA CASE IN TODDLERS
Abstract
The incidence of pneumonia cases is the third cause of death after cardiovascular and tuberculosis and that causes 277 deaths in the group of children aged 29 days to 11 months in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the physical quality of the home environment and the number of air bacteria with the incidence of pneumonia toddlers. The type of research was on case control study. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a sample of toddlers at the age 1-5 years and a comparison of cases with controls 1:1, total 130 samples of working area Baturraden II Public Health Center. The results of the research analysis showed that the variables of occupancy density (p value= 0,005), house humidity (p value= 0,03), type of floor (p value= 0,013), light intensity (p value= 0,035) and the number of bacteria (p value= 0,002) had a relationship with the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers. The variable number of bacteria is the most dominant variable affecting the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers with the greatest Exp (B) value.
