HOSPITAL PREPAREDNESS IN FACE OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC : A CASE STUDY FROM PERMATA MEDIKA SEMARANG HOSPITAL INDONESIA

Abstract

World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a pandemic in 12th March 2020. Hospital as the referral health facility of covid-19 have to stay ready to serve COVID-19 patients so the hospital preparedness in facing the covid-19 pandemic must be evaluated. This article is a case study  of  Permata Medika Semarang Hospital. Since the beginning of the pandemic this hospital has carried out various activities to anticipate  the pandemic. The activities are establishing COVID-19 Task Force, setting services procedures for COVID-19 and non COVID-19 patients, preparing isolation room of COVID-19 patients,  formulating clinical practice guidelines and COVID-19 clinical pathway,  setting zoning of personal protective equipment, prevent transmission of virus from the patients and the employees, coordination to settlement of  claim of COVID-19 payment by Ministry of Health,  evaluating the stocks of medicines and means/equipment for COVID-19 patients and receiving donation from government, private sector, and community. The pandemic  is still ongoing so hospital preparedness has yet to be maintained. This requires monitoring, evaluation, coordination, communication and cooperation within internal hospitals and with other stakeholders.
