ONLINE INNOVATIVE LEARNING METHOD AT MATERNITY NURSING VIA YOUTUBE MEDIA TO ACHIEVEMENT OF COMPETENCE IN NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract

Background: Online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic requires lecture creativity in teaching nursing procedures, which cannot be conducted face-to-face in the laboratory to achieve student competence. This research aim to identify the achievement of competence at maternity nursing in students of Jayakarta  Institute of Health use of the online innovative learning method via YouTube media. Method: The method this research is quantitative descriptive. Sampling used total sampling technique with number of samples was 30 third-semester students. This study was evaluated competence the student at one semester learning process used media YouTube for the laboratory practice maternity nursing procedure. The data collection conducted by observation method using instrument checklists of Leopold 1-4 examination procedures, delivery assistance or intrapartal, and post-partum examination. The process of data analysis in this studied used descriptive distribution frequency for achievement of competence the student of Leopold examination, delivery assistance and post partum examination procedure. The results of this study reported that 100% students can achieve the competence of Leopold 1-4 examination. 100% of students also achieved the competence of normal delivery assistance. 73% of students achieved the post-partum examination procedures. The conclusion is that student achievement competence to do examination maternity nursing procedure. Through innovative learning media, it can help students to achieve competence in performing maternity nursing procedures. The Recommendation is YouTube videos can be use as an alternative media for online learning maternity nursing procedures during the pandemic Covid 19.
