FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE UNSAFE ACTIONS ON WORKERS AT PT. PRIMA ABADI JAYA MEDAN IN 2023
Abstract
Unsafe action is one of the causes of work accidents such as carelessness, not adhering to regulations, not obeying the standard of work procedure, not wearing PPE (Protective Personal Device), and fatigue (Istih, 2017). The data from the Japan Industrial Safety & Health Association in the US revealed that there were 10,000 cases of fatal accidents and more than two million cases of injury each year with the loss of more than 65 billion American dollars. Based on the data from BPJS, it was found that in 2020 there were 35,291 cases (with the proportion of 42.2%) of work accidents in West Java (BPJS of Manpower, 2022). The objective of this research was to analyze several factors which influence unsafe action in the employees of PT Prima Abadi Jaya, Medan, in 2023. The research used observational analytic method with cross sectional design. The population was 120 employees, and 51 of them were used as the sample, taken by using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument was questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyzes with Spearman test with linear regression test and enter method. The results of the research showed that there was the influence of knowledge (p<0.001), attitude (p< 0.001) supervision (p<0, and K3 training (p< 0.005), but there was no influence of the length of service (p>0.222) and K3 socialization (p>0.108). The conclusion was that knowledge, attitude, supervision, and K training had significant influence on the employees' unsafe action. Meanwhile, knowledge and supervision had the most dominant factors which influenced the employees' unsafe action at PT PAJ, Medan.
