FACTORS INFLUENCING NURSES' COMPLIANCE IN IMPLEMENTING PATIENT SAFETY AT DR. M. THOMSEN NIAS REGIONAL PUBLIC HOSPITAL IN 2024
Abstract
Every health care facility that provides health services to the public must organize patient safety. The implementation of patient safety in hospitals cannot be separated from health workers, especially nurses, because nurses are the most dominant or most needed health workers. The research problem is to find out the effect of leadership, peer support, knowledge, and availability of infrastructure on nurses' compliance in implementing patient safety. This research aims to explain the factors that affect nurses' compliance in implementing patient safety at RSUD (Regional Public Hospital) dr. M. Thomsen Nias . The research method used is a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to practicing nurses in several inpatient rooms with a sample of 132 respondents. The results show that leadership variables, peer support, knowledge, and availability of infrastructure have the most significant effect on Nurse Compliance in Implementing Patient Safety (p-value 0.000 <0.05). Based on these findings, it is recommended for the hospital to conduct regular training programs that focus on improving the leadership skills of inpatient ward heads, enhancing nurses' knowledge of patient safety practices and compliance with procedures, as well as fostering effective communication, teamwork, and mutual support awareness among nurses.
