CHARACTER EDUCATION IN PURSUANCE OF AL-QURAN PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

Many politicians are caught in corruption cases, even though they are educated academics who have even arrived at the highest step in the sphere of education to have a doctorate. Subsequently, where is the mistake of education nowadays? The mistake lies in the lack of character education and only prioritizes intellectual education. This article discusses character education in terms of the thematic commentary method. The results of this study concluded that character education in the Qur'an is considered from three scopes: individual, family and society. The individual scope emphasizes the uswah of the Prophet. The family scope is derived in the narrations of Yusuf, Luqman and Isma‘il by religious character, patience and great soul. The scope of society education is reflected in the narration of Ibra>hi>m who has a brave character in eradicating evil.
